Daporijo, Jan 9: One Jelo Nayam aged 35 was found dead in a mysterious condition near Subansiri River at Dumporijo today morning.
Being informed, Dumporijo police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the bank of the river.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased have lodged a complaint with Dumporijo police station against a suspect.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the cause of the death can only be ascertained after post mortem report, Dumporijo OC said.

Third DLMC meeting held at Longding
KHONSA, Jan 9: The 3rd District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting of Longding District was held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Longding on January 7. The Committee held discussion on the progress of various schemes under SPA, NLCPR, DoTCL, ACA, BADP, PM’s Package and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes pertaining to Longding District.
The Chairman of the DLMC Repo Ronya briefed about the importance of the DLMC meeting. He told the work departments to attend such meeting whenever it is called for. He also suggested to form committees including the Deputy Commissioner himself and other departments for physical inspection of such project in the site during the holidays ie. Saturday and Sunday to physically assess the progress instead of discussing on papers. He urged the work department to complete the projects in the given time and also told the departments to keep him informed about the local issues and problems while implementing the projects.

IPC, group discussion on NRDWP held
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Interpersonal Communication (IPC) and group discussion to generate awareness among villagers about National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) were organized by PHE Department, Aalo supported by Assembly Youth Congress Committee, Rumgong at Molo covering four villages namely Hio, Molo, Dupu and Row.
Attending the programme, Toni Ette, EE, PHE, Aalo briefed the villagers on proper sanitation and good health and hygiene practices to prevent various water borne diseases. He requested the Panchayat leaders to organize such awareness programmes from time to time for the welfare of the villagers.

Need of the hour is action, says CS
ZIRO, Jan 9: “The need of the hour is action; plans should not be confined to the boardrooms. It should be implemented in the respective fields”, said state’s chief secretary H K Paliwal while interacting with the HoDs of all the departments of Lower Subansiri district today. The CS was at Ziro to take stock of the various developmental activities and schemes sponsored by the state as well as the central Govts.
Citing Ziro as a future tourist hotspot he stressed on speeding up the construction of ALG at Old Ziro. “This would bring about all round economic development to the district, as the inflow of tourist would increase. Medical emergencies can also be dealt efficiently and timely”, he added.
Expressing concern on the prevailing practice of absenteeism by some teachers, he advised the DDSE to make routine as well as surprise inspections and deal strongly with the erring teachers.
He stressed on 100 per cent survey, billing and clearance of outstanding electricity bills of private consumers. “Power theft should be positively reported and dealt strongly with,” he said.
He stressed on collaboration between the Agriculture and WRD department to draw up an irrigation plan in Ziro plateau to encourage multiple or double cropping. He stressed on adoption of Community fencing wherein a group of agriculture land owners can collectively erect fencings with assistance from the govt. to keep away animals from destroying the crops/vegetables etc.
Ziro can be the vegetable bowl of the state, he added.

MoU signed for development of Wind Energy Project in Kerala
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: MoU for Development of Wind Energy Projects by NHPC in the State of Kerala was signed between NHPC and Govt. of Kerala on January 6 at Thiruvananthapuram.
RS Mina, Director (Personnel), NHPC and Dr Nivedita P Haran, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, Government of Kerala signed the agreement in the presence of Aryadan Mohammad, Minister of Power and Transport, Govt of Kerala. Senior officials from Kerala State Govt and NHPC Limited were also present on the occasion.
NHPC will develop grid interactive wind power project in Nallasingam and Kottathara sites in Pallakad district with a potential of 82 MW capacity. The project is expected to be completed over the next two years. Power generated from the project will be provided to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on rates fixed by the Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The wind farm in Kerala would be the first such venture of the NHPC which is in the process of diversification with new solar and wind power projects in various States.

ITANAGAR, Jan 09: The constituency level football and volleyball tournament (men and women) for Chief Minister’s Trophy in East Kameng district got underway. The competition first began at Bana under 11th Seppa (West) Assembly constituency from 29th to 30th December last. All together four teams each for men & women in both football & volleyball from four circles headquarter had participated.
Kicking off the tournament Arunachal Pradesh Forest Cooperation Ltd Chairman cum local MLA Tani Loffa called upon the youths to adopt a particular game and excel it in district, state and National or International arena. Loffa also highlighted the current government’s efforts and gestures to promote games & sports and sportspersons.

Tang Memorial Football begins tomorrow
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Preparations for the 13th Tadar Tang Memorial State Level Football Tournament beginning at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun from January 11 have almost been completed.
Organizing Committee chairman Bamang Tago said that they had completed all preparations for the mega event and are ready to start the eagerly awaited tournament as scheduled.
Informing that this edition of the tournament will witness several firsts, like introduction of dope test on players, Tago hoped the presence of All India Football Federation (AIFF) vice president cum Shillong Lajong FC Managing Director (MD) Larsing Ming Sawyan on the inaugural day will not only boost morale of the organizer but will be a boon for football in Arunachal Pradesh. Sawyan is arriving in the state capital tomorrow, he informed.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in presence of Lok Sabha member and president of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association president Takam Sanjoy and hosts of dignitaries.

Tarasso circle edgy over boundary row

I on behalf of Taraso circle would like to state that recent land encroachment in Taraso circle under Papum Pare District of Arunachal Pradesh by the people of Assam was lead by one Vivik Das, CM leader of the Bahali areas along with one Ranjit Das of Behumari village. They have engaged more than 1500 people from different areas of Assam including some from Demaji District to encroach the land of Taraso circle measuring more than 10,000.Sq Km after the immediate visit of the Local Boundary Commission head by Justice (Rtd.) Tarun Chaterjee.
The concern district head of both Papum Pare and Sonitpur District conducted series of meeting and took resolution to maintain status quo as per the standing order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court but the situation is day by day getting worse. The encroachment has not stopped nor have people left the area. The land encroacher has been cutting down all the mustard seeds belonging to local people which were ready for ripe. The local are losing lot of money due to it.
Both Govt of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have failed to tackle the burning issue of land encroachment problem in Tarasso circle. We the general public of the Taraso circle appeal to the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to immediately resolve the matter and impress upon encroachers to vacate from the land occupied by them in Taraso circle. Otherwise people of area will take their own course of action if Govt of Arunachal Pradesh fails to tackle the matter.

Lack of political activism in Arunachal
Dear Editor,
Political force is regarded as the most efficient and effective tool for economic and social development and to bringing positive changes in the society. The true public servants are those who carry forward the utmost faith and hope of the citizens given to them during elections. But there is a huge vacuum which has been left or say "ignored"! This vacuum has been continuously filled by the honorable Supreme Court by giving landmark judgments. For example police reform, exclusion of criminals from contesting elections, NOTA (none of the above), reservation for differently abled persons to be filled as per the law etc.
The legislative, executive and the judiciary work in their own areas. But the present scenario is showing 'judicial activism' not 'political activism'. The question arises, what our legislators are doing? Are they not there to make laws for us? I am certain that our political leaders both at centre and state do not lack vision. But so far it’s bleak. If the judiciary who are inside the four walls and can see what this people of the country need, than why can’t our political leaders who are almost always with them?
Today with passage of every second the society is getting complex. New laws are to be enacted, new type of problems are to be tackled. Also measures must be taken to ensure the preparedness for any unforeseen future events. For this a vibrant and visionary political force is the need of the hour. I am not against any political class. They are giving there their best. But the best may also lack key issues concerning whole society and the state. I am hopeful and wish that democratic upsurge will be a truth in Arunachal soon.

Recently, ACA deputed two umpires at Sagalee during IVth Edition of Techi Taram Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament w.e.f 7th Dec to 18th Dec. 2013. During tournament we found that there is lot of players who plays very good cricket. If ACA can have its own pitch/ cricket ground, how great it would be for budding players?
It is worth mentioning here that except cricket every other sports has its own play ground like football has RG Stadium. At Sangey Laden sports academy they have facilities to support all the major sports event. However ACA does not has single plot of land to play cricket.
Through your esteemed daily, this is my earnest request on behalf of cricket lovers
of state, specially, players, umpire etc. to our Chief Minister who is also incumbent
President, ACA, please provide us plot of land in the outskirt of Capital Complex

In yet another incident which shows that people of state do not care for developmental project, unknown miscreants on Wednesday vandalized Pacha Hydel Project located near Seppa town. The incident is quite shocking as Seppa has been battling power woes for last many months and Pacha Hydel is the one which had given some relief to the denizens. Due to erratic power supply, the angry citizens last year even gheroed power minister Tanga Byaling during his visit to Seppa and expressed their displeasure.
The people should understand that by destroying developmental projects like that
of Pacha Hydel, they are only adding to their own woes. If power supply again breaks
down in the future, the authority will not hesitate to blame citizens. Also the money
needed for repairing of damage hydel project will be funded from public exchequer.
The district administration should crack down strongly against such anti-
